ÖRUGG has assisted the Football Association of Iceland (KSÍ) in the preparation of emergency response plans and the organization of evacuation and security matters at the national stadium Laugardalsvöllur.

It is an absolute priority of KSÍ to ensure the safety of spectators and players in the diverse situations that can arise during well-attended matches. ÖRUGG’s extensive experience in security management at crowded events is perfectly suited to planning for such situations. The recent matches with Slovenia and Portugal were challenges which provided further experience.

Various aspects of crowd management and pressure from the spectators, not seen at any sporting event in Iceland before, came into play. This was due in some part to the presence of the legendary player Cristiano Ronaldo, whose popularity seems to be as great as ever.
